Summer Field Trip Takes Children to Life-like Habitats
July 27th the School aged class, along with both preschool classes, traveled to MSU Science & Culture museum. The first stop on our tour was the wonderful life-like “Habitat Hall”, which fit perfectly with this summer's theme weeks. Each week Trinity Lutheran Childcare had a theme such as “Rocking Rainforests”, Ponds Rivers, & Lakes – Oh my!, and The Amazing Arctic. While at the museum children got to experience each of these habitats up close and personal. They also had the opportunity to learn about what earth looked like in prehistoric times, up till today.
The students were a bit intimidated by the 10ft taxidermied bear from the Michigan region but thought that getting to touch the fossils felt “interesting.” The school age kids say their favorite parts were the two elephant skeletons, one Asian one African, and that they were “cool”. On the whole we had a wonderful experience. We would like to thank the parent volunteers, as well as the church for allowing us to take such a wonderful field trip.
